To St. Louis CDS members and visitors,
It all started when Larry Hoard wanted to have a single document, a retreat registration form, available online. When he asked me, his son, for help, I was appalled to learn St. Louis CDS didn't have a website. So, I decided someone needed to change that.
That was over two years ago. Now I can see my high hopes of a highly flexible internet meeting place with dynamic page structure, community supported content, and a few other technologically-advanced-sounding things for our humble CDS, were (to say the least) a bit far fetched. We need a website, but not one nearly as advanced as the one I've provided.
So, in the coming month or so I will be removing functions from this website that are superfluous. The most significant of these changes will be the removal of the forums, which to date have received five (5) posts, three of which were made by myself.
With these changes, the role of this website will also change. It will no longer be primarily dynamic, instead changing to a more static existence. This seems to be what is best suited for St. Louis CDS, considering that the most popular part of our site (relatively popular, anyway), the store, isn't technically part of our site at all.
In conclusion, I want to emphasise that these changes will be for the better. The reason for having this website has always been to provide accurate information about our organization in an easy to access environment. I want stlcds.org to be a website that best serves the needs of St. Louis CDS. At the moment that means removing some unnecessary features. If our needs change in the coming years, stlcds.org will change to meet them.
Thank you for all of the support you have provided!
Dakota Hoard -- webmaster, http://www.stlcds.org/
P.S. While I am making these changes, I want to encourage you, the people for whom this website was made (member and non-member alike), to provide me with feedback. What would you like to stlcds.org to be? What features do you like or dislike? What would you like to see added? Anything you think would make stlcds.org a better website for you. You can send me your comments via this contact form.
